Dunk’n Dip [Restaurant Review]

If you love chocolate as much as I do then Dunk’n Dip would be the perfect place for you. The recently opened Resto and Chocolate Lounge on Lakeshore Rd., Mississauga offers a variety of dishes mainly focusing on desserts drizzled in fountain chocolate.

The decor is cute and modern with wooden floors, deep couches, and really nice napkin arrangements. They also give you water in a cool glass decanter. The hostess was very helpful when we spent close to 20 minutes deciding from the menu. We went in an hour or so after opening time and the place was empty. We sat right by the windows watching traffic flow on the street.

The hubsters and I didn’t think we’d be ordering any savory items since all we heard about Dunk’n Dip was the glowing reviews on their desserts. But our growling stomachs led us to savory menu pages and we ended up ordering one plate of the waffle burger sandwich.

Beautiful, isn’t it? The sandwich is made up of 2 beef patties sandwiched between 3 waffles along with lettuce, tomato, pickles, onion, Dunk’n Dip sauce, and chips. The burger was delicious and quite filling for two. I really enjoyed the Dunk’n Dip sauce on the side and spread most of it inside my sandwich. 5 stars for presentation. Only downsides: The waffles were not fresh in-store made unlike other items. My speculation is that they were the Eggo brand. Also, this is more nit-picking but it was a difficult sandwich to eat because of the height. But that’s another matter.

And of course, how could we leave without dessert?

We were initially planning to buy two plates of dessert but after splitting the burger and realizing there was only a little more room left in our stomachs, we decided on one. We ordered one of the most popular items on the menu: the triple gelato scoop sundae (nestled on slices of banana) drizzled with three different types of fountain chocolate – white, dark, and milk. The sundae was garnished with chocolate dipped strawberries and three types of cookies.

The chocolate and strawberry gelato were great in terms of flavor but the vanilla tasted too watery for my liking. The cookies made a great side piece to dunk into the chocolate and ice cream. I found the dessert light, a tad too sweet, but with wonderful complementing flavors.

If we ever find ourselves in Dunk’n Dip again, we’re sure to try out the plethora of other desserts they have to offer on their menu. If you’re in the area, make sure you try Dunk’n Dip. It’s a great place to relax and enjoy some tasty treats with good company.
