Spicy ground beef filling

Hello my fellow travellers,

This beef filling is adapted from Fauzia’s kitchen, which is a great website with awesome recipes from a wide variety of food cuisines!

The filling can be used in puff pastries, baked breads, or buns.

I decided to dolop some of the filling into fresh hamburger buns and leave the rest for caterpillar bread (recipe will be up soon).



I also made a quick yogurt-garlic sauce that went great as a base inside the buns and the beef filling. Try this easy recipe out and let me know what you think.


1 lb medium ground beef

1 medium onion, chopped

4 tbsp tomato paste

salt to taste

pepper to taste

2 tbsp 3% yogurt

1/2 tsp turmeric

1/2 tsp garam masala

2 tsp ginger garlic paste

1 tsp red chilli powder

2 tbsp oil (I prefer coconut)

1/2 red bell pepper, chopped

1/2 green pepper, chopped

3-4 tbsp sweet corn

2-3 tbsp green peas

1 tsp fresh lemon juice

2 chopped green chillies


  1. Marinate the ground beef in yogurt, with 1 tsp ginger-garlic paste, salt, and turmeric powder. Set aside for a half an hour or more. The longer the better the flavour.
  2. Heat pan and add oil. Fry onions till translucent and add 1 tsp (remaining) ginger-garlic paste. Also add tomato paste, garam masala, and red chilli powder. Then add meat and fry till the beef breaks up and turns brown.Enjoy!
  3. Add red and green pepper and allow any water in the beef to evaporate. Mix in remaining ingredients: corn, peas, and chillies. Cook until all water has evaporated and meat is cooked through well.

Stores well for 2-3 days
